Life in Pictures: Christmas 2015

How was your Christmas? Ours was quiet and unsophisticated. Just how we’d wanted. We had no visitors and went nowhere (except for Sophie and I going to church for an hour). There was no sign of a turkey, or terrible Christmas music, or Santa. It was very untraditional, and very us. The children opened their stockings in our bed in the morning, which was lots of fun, and to be honest I really think if they hadn’t received any more presents after that, they would have been happy anyway. The rest of the presents were opened before lunch, and for lunch we ate breakfast food, because we love it, and because we can. I made a cinnamon and maple brioche star. I was pretty proud of it. (Matthew thought it was the best thing ever. Sophie only ate a croissant.) After lunch we all had a nap. And we finished the day after the kids’ bedtime with a massive game of Carcassonne with all the expansion packs we own. It was epic. I lost. (But I won the rematch a few days later!)

The best bit of the day? Remembering this:

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you GOOD NEWS that will cause GREAT JOY for ALL THE PEOPLE. Today in the town of David a SAVIOUR has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2)

And all of this:
